Author Talk: Authentic Antiracist Dialogue with Roxy Manning

Join Roxy to explore how authenticity and care can transform dialogues about racism! 

Roxy Manning will be at First Church Berkeley to discuss and read from her book, How to Have Antiracist Conversations: Embracing Our Full Humanity to Challenge White Supremacy and it’s companion text, The Antiracist Heart: A Self-Compassion and Activism Handbook. Explore a groundbreaking approach to fighting racism and white supremacy culture through compassionate yet fierce dialogue, inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s Beloved Community. Dr. Manning provides practical tools and frameworks that foster connection and courage, reimagining antiracist conversations.

Roxy will be interviewed as part of the 10am worship service in the Sanctuary. Following the service, join Roxy for the Learning Hour at Loper Chapel from 11:45am-1pm.

This event is offered free of charge and will be followed by a book signing.

About the Speaker

Dr. Roxy Manning, a clinical psychologist and social justice advocate, specializes in building resilience and equity. Her experience as a Black Caribbean immigrant informs her work with diverse groups globally, focusing on healing internalized oppression and empowering transformative dialogue. She is an assessor and certified trainer in Nonviolent Communication. Roxy is the author of How to Have Antiracist Conversations and co-author of The Antiracist Heart. She also co-hosts the Fierce Compassion podcast with Sarah.
